Reaching the Heights in Macchu Picchu

We Did It! We Did It! We Did It!

sunny 22 °C

No photos as yet. But sitting almost breathless in Cuzco. We saw the Inca ruins of Sachsayhuaman or Sexy Woman today en route back to Cuzco for a 2 night stay. Massive stones with many angles almost miraculously placed over a massive area. But every thing on this trip pales so far compared with our 4 hours and 2 trips to some of the heights of Macchu Picchu yesterday. It was almost beyond belief that we were able to climb first to the Inca Keystone and back to Sanctuary Lodge for lunch then back up the hundreds of steps to the Watchmans hut for the famous view of Macchu Picchu that you see in all famous pictures. We met Llamas and many breathless tourists on the way up but made it! Almost beyond belief that this trip so far has involved a trip under the Iguassu Falls, a cruise to Antarctica and Macchu Picchu and we have not got to Lake Titicaca or La Paz as yet!

I will try and transfer some photos to a USB tomorrow and upload them to this blog. Sorry to make you wait but thats technology for you. Tonight we sleep in the Libertador Hotel which was Pachacuti the Inca private palace and then the Palace of Fernando Pizarro after the Spanish Conquest.
