Cruise Day 2

Montevideo

sunny 30 °C

Today we stopped in Montevideo after boarding yesterday in Buenos Aires. Yesterday we had our last morning in BA and decided to go to Gallerios Pacificos - an upmarket shopping centre in a renovated railway headquarters in Central BA. Our hotel the Emperador was very classy and comfortable. This morning we took an ordinary tour of Jewish Montevideo but the Synagogue was closed. We did however see the Holocaust Memorial on the beach which was setup at the behest of the then President of Uruguay in 1994 with the financial help of the local community. We also visited the gallery of a terrific local Artist Gurvich who used an extraordinary variety of media and subjects over a long period.

Tonight we sail to Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands en route to the Anrarctic Peninsula. Highlights of the trip so far include Rio and the Carnival show, BA and the Tango Show, The Iguassu Falls which almost leave one breathless and as already mentioned the Flesh parade and the the curiosity we aroused on the Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.
